Release Notes for JRButils for Netware V18

64 bit programs

We have created 64 bit Windows versions of all programs for which Novell provide the relevant 64 bit DLLs. This is currently limited to the cross-platform and NMAS libraries, which means the following functionality is not available:

• GroupWise. Currently Novell have no plans to produce a 64 bit GroupWise client, hence there are no 64 bit versions of programs such as gwusers. Other programs such as jrbimprt and delobj which incorporate both eDirectory and GroupWise functionality are available but work with eDirectory only.
• Printing. No 64 bit DLLs are available for queue based or NDPS/iPrint based printing. However, 64 bit versions of pnadd, pndel and pnusers are available as they interact only with eDirectory, and not the printer database.
• Certificates. There are no 64 bit versions of the certificate server libraries, hence no 64 bit versions of servcert and usercert.

V18 contains 64 bit versions of both the Part 1 and Part 2 utilities which are in Parts 4 and 5. Currently the fully GUI programs (Part 3) are available only as 32 bit versions but we expect to rectify this in V19.

The 64 bit versions of programs such as jrbmap, home2 and setcx succeed in modifying the environment of their parent process (cmd.exe) on 64 bit Windows whereas 32 bit versions cannot when run on a 64 bit operating system. This for example allows jrbmap to set a path relative to the root of the mapped drive. More details follow.
